The Pioneers(12-7) host the Lindbergh Flyers(10-7) in a Suburban conference game in the Holley Assembly Hall.
Kirkwood earned a 47-28 victory in the last meeting between the two programs one season ago at Kirkwood High School. The Pioneers have defeated the Flyers eight times in their past ten meetings dating back to 2012.
Lindbergh will be bolstered by the return of 6-foot-9 inch senior center Erik Lahm who has missed most of the season with injury, but returned Tuesday to score 14 points in a loss to McCluer.
6-foot-7 inch senior forward Adam Bell and senior guard Kieran Conboy are each averaging 11 points per game for the Flyers.
Lindbergh averages 48 points per game on defense and allows 44. Kirkwood averages 70 points per game on offense, allowing 66 on defense.
Senior Damien Loyd continues to lead the Pioneers in scoring, averaging 21. Senior Jonah McDowell adds 11.1 for the Pioneers.
The pace of play will go a long way towards determining the outcome of this contest. If it’s low scoring the Flyers will be smiling. If a track meet ensues, the Pioneers will earn victory No. 13 on the season.
Kirkwood head coach Bill Gunn earned his 300th career victory in the opening round defeat of Northwest.
Damien Loyd and Jonah McDowell earned all-conference honors in the 57th Union Tournament.
Jaylen Phipps has averaged 14.6 points per game over the past three Pioneer contests.
Brad Lay scored his career varsity high, 15 points, in the Northwest victory.
Arvell Ferguson leads the team grabbing 6.8 rebounds per game.
Friday, February 1 at Kirkwood the team will host Post Game with the Pioneers following the Lindbergh game for all boys in grades 3 – 7.
