The Pioneers(13-7) travel West on highway 40/64 to face the 18-2 Francis Howell Vikings. The Vikings are having an outstanding season, appearances in championship games in each of their three tournaments including a victory in the Kaminsky Classic in Joplin, Missouri.

It’s been a decade since the two teams met in the semifinal round of the Dave Sinclair Lindbergh Flyer Classic.  The Pioneers earned a 71-56 victory in route to the tournament championship.

Howell has a pair of 1,000 point career scoring including point point guard Daylan Dalton and junior forward Matt Schark.   Inside 6-foot-9 inch sophomore center Sam Thompson is quickly becoming a sought after recruit.

The Vikings average 68 points per game on defense and allow just 52.  Kirkwood averages 70 points per game on offense, allowing 66 on defense.

Senior Damien Loyd continues to lead the Pioneers in scoring, averaging 20.6.  Senior Jonah McDowell adds 10.4 for the Pioneers. Senior Brad Lay has been on a tear in recent games, averaging 9 points per game over the past 5 and leading the St. Louis area from the 3-point line during that span.

Another solid road test for the Pioneers against a state ranked foe, Kirkwood hopes to continue their march through February.
