The Pioneers(15-9) host the Eureka Wildcats(13-9) in a Suburban Conference test Thursday night at Kirkwood High School.  Both Eureka and the host Pioneers competed in the Coaches vs. Cancer and Denver Miller Tournaments but they have not met this season.


Kirkwood edged Eureka 95-94 in a thrilling triple overtime contest a season ago in the Denver Miller Tournament.  The Pioneers enter with a 4 game winning streak against the Wildcats, and victories in 7 of their past 10 meetings.


6-foot-6 inch senior Avery Taggert averages 21.3 points per game, he has connected on 45% (49/110) from beyong the arc to lead the Wildcats.


The Wildcats average 55 points per game on defense and allow 51.  Kirkwood averages 69 points per game on offense, allowing 67 on defense.


Senior Damien Loyd continues to lead the Pioneers in scoring, averaging 21.5.  Senior Jonah McDowell adds 10.4 for the Pioneers.

SENIOR NIGHT festivities will start between 5:30 & 5:45. 

Damien Loyd and Jonah McDowell earned all-tournament honors in the 57th Union Tournament.  Loyd leads the team with 82 assists and 50 steals.


Twelve different Pioneers scored Monday as Kirkwood defeated 73-60 over Parkway West.  Jaylen Phipps added 12 for the Pioneers.


Loyd scored 38 points on recently as the Pioneers came from behind to defeat Summit 73-64 in a non-conference match.   McDowell scored 17 points, all in the second half, thrilling the large home crowd with a rim rattling dunk over a Falcon.


Jonah McDowell and Brad Lay have qualified and will earn MBCA Academic All-State selection this year.


Arvell Ferguson leads the team grabbing 6.6 rebounds per game. Ferguson also leads the team in charges taken, with 8.  Ferguson recently announced he will play football next season at Garden City Community College.


Maurice Massey will play football next season at the University of Missouri.
